Unwind: how I spend time to myself

Today I will be sharing ways in which I unwind, for days when I just need to take some time to myself. Whether it may be a 9-5 job, catching up on deadlines or always been on your feet; it’s easy to forget to stop and take a breather for a minute or two. There’s no better feeling than taking time to yourself from the world to put your feet up. So on this post I’ll just list a couple of the things that I personally like to do to unwind.

Clean: Yes cleaning has actually made it to my list of ways that I like to unwind. As they say, a clean house helps build a clear mind (or something along them lines I think). For me, cleaning helps me think things over rationally, which is all I need on my off days. So get the hoover out and truly give the room a good wipe around.

Listen to music: Music is also a good way for me to unwind as I always find myself singing along to whatever song is playing at the time. This helps me focus on something else, other than what is going on in my mind or bugging me. I can go from movie playlists to Disney ones and even old school RnB music.

Read a book: Grabbing a book from my mini library of a bookcase is basically second nature to me haha. I sometimes read in complete silence but most of the time it’ll be with some music playing in the background (quietly). I am currently reading Why I’m No Longer Talking To White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge.

Nap: This is my all time favourite one. I mean who doesn’t enjoy sleeping hahaha. The duration of my naps depend on my mood to be honest, but always gotta make sure that I don’t nap after 6PM, as actually getting into bed becomes a real struggle.

Take a stroll outside: Nothing clears the mind more than just taking a short (or long if you’d like) walk around your neighbourhood. Having that cool breeze hitting your face, whilst you enjoy the beauty of nature that surrounds you. I know that most people do their best thinking when outside rather than cooped up inside. If you aren’t much of a walker, take a trip to the park instead and re-live childhood moments.

What’s your go to for a relaxing day by yourself? Do you stay in or prefer going out into town on your own? Leave a comment below sharing your best unwind techniques.

  1. These are great ideas to take time for yourself. I love napping or listening to music because they just chill me out no end! My favourite is having a hot bath or shower and taking care of myself so like shaving and doing a face mask relaxes me so so much! Such a nice positive post x
