Hey,
Welcome to my first blog post of 2019!! I took a much needed break from blogging and spent the holidays with the family, which was fun to see everyone get together under one roof. Today’s post will be a list of things I liked the most whilst I was in Barcelona, Spain. Although it’s only January, there is no harm in doing an early bucket list of destinations that you’d like to visit this year hahah. So without a further ado, here are my reasons on why Barcelona is a city worth seeing.
- The Community: Everyone at the city are so friendly and if they see that you looking a little lost *cough cough me*, they aren’t afraid to approach you and direct you where you need to be. There was this lovely elderly couple that directed us to the best place to eat near the Arc de Triomf. They took us to a restaurant called La Triunfal and the food there ended up being better than first expected. You don’t get to go to many cities where the locals are willing to help travellers from abroad.
- City Attractions: In Barcelona, you can never really run out of things to do, especially in regards to the popular city attractions. To give you an incline of what I’m talking about, there is a list of attractions such as: Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, La Rambla, Gothic Quarter, Arc de Triomf and many more others. The majority of the attractions you can get free entry to, unless you wanna indulge further into them with extra charges. Out of the list above, I’d say my all time favourite attraction is Park Guell, as it is filled with such beautiful mosaic arts and sculpture.
- Food: In Barcelona, there is a large variety of choices in regards to food and that is BIG bonus for foodies! Such as myself! I’d definitely recommend going to La Rambla for food as you have a lot of choices around you, both on the main streets and inside the little alleyways too. I went to Chick’s Burger Bar for the first time this year and boy was their food good. It’s not everyday you find a place that’ll actually fill you up from just one meal.
- Art: By no doubt is Barcelona a city filled with art and aestheticism both inside and out. It has the perfect backdrop for a good travel photo to say the least. Its art is what makes Barcelona such a good destination for travelling, especially if you’re visiting Spain for the first time (in my opinion). There are plenty of museums and even the Cathedral to see, for that cultural experience that every tourist needs.
- Well priced: I’d also add that travelling to Barcelona (as well as Palma de Mallorca) is not that expensive, if you pick the right hotels and flights etc. Overall though you can find prices that fit your budget and most of the tourist areas are free of charge, so you don’t really have to worry about spending extra money. For example, you can walk the Parc Guell lower garden freely with the exclusion of Antoni Gaudi’s garden. So you still get to enjoy the art whilst taking in the beautiful nature’s work.
I hope you enjoyed today’s post for 2019 and wishing you all the best for the rest of the year! What’s your favourite holiday destination? And why? Feel free to share them below on the comments section.
Yours Truly,
